· helped the women’s prison in Antananarivo (capital of Madagascar), where we regularly give food and utility items to the mothers of small children.
· helped two orphanages, supporting over 100 children with food - we raised $350 directly from people on ebay who bought photos for Christmas to support the children - thanks so much to everyone who did.
· helped provide the seeds of an anti-malarial herb, and the growing kit, for a bush medical clinic
· helped with most of the costs of sending a 40 foot shipping container from the international charity Crossroads in Hong Kong. A container full of clothes, medical supplies and equipment, toys, school items, computers and much more. This was used to help two orphanages, a bush clinic, a bush school and the women’s prison, numerous poor people, as well as establishing the office of Madagascar Dream in Antananarivo.
· bought 400kg of rice for children in a government detention centre. We have only just discovered that this place exists. These are orphans who have been picked up off streets by the police after having being involved in crimes. The detention centre is appaling by western standards and the children don't get looked after well, and the diet is poor. So we want to keep on helping them. Thanks so much for your continued buying from us - 10% of profits goes to Madagascar. And if anyone feels to make a gift we will ensure 100% will go directly to the poor.
· we have been given 1 ha of land on the outskirts of Antananarivo with the option of buying another ha for 2000 euros. We are looking to build a school, adult education centre and orphanage on this land. This will be built of home made clay bricks sourced from the land. We have also been given a further 5 ha on a 10 year lease to grow vegetables, fruit and rice. We are in the process of building a dam for water storage from other gifts people have given us. If anyone wants to help with finance for this you would be most welcome.
All this can happen because 10% of the profits from this business, that you are supporting, is used for this work. Moreover, in buying the Madagascan products, you are directly supporting Malagasy crafts people and artisans who make all these beautiful products.
Thankyou, The Bling Team |
