About Our Store
sabai designs was formed by Kristin and Scott. We began visiting Southeast Asia many years ago and developed a deep appreciation for the arts and crafts of the region. We now spend much of the year living in northern Thailand and travelling around Southeast Asia. We have put together a collection of some of the most beautiful and unique creations from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia and India. Our items include silk tapestries, throws, runners, stone carvings, Buddhist sculpture, art, antiques, scarves and jewellery.

Our items are hand made and embody a human quality often lost in mass produced, factory goods. Where possible, we buy directly from the artisans in the country of origin. Many of our pieces are ‘one of a kind’, such as our antiques, Buddhist sculpture and art. Our store is stocked with well crafted, exotic treasures that reflect the colourful cultures and traditions of the East. We hope to support traditional and emerging skills in developing nations
by finding a global market for their rich and diverse creations. sabai designs also supports Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for Asian elephants.

Elephant Nature Park
sabai designs supports Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary for injured and mistreated elephants in northern Thailand. The founder of the park, Sangduen ‘Lek’ Chailert, has been passionately championing the rights of the Asian elephant for decades. She was named a ‘Hero of Asiaby Time Magazine in 2005 for her work to protect and save Asian elephants. There are currently over 30 elephants living at the park, together with the many dogs, cats, cows and buffalo that Lek has rescued over the years. At the park, the elephants are free to roam and forage and are not made to work. Our Ele Store is stocked with silver and semi-precious stone jewellery made by Lek and her staff as well as elephant cards, elephant t-shirts and books. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of products made by Elephant Nature Park is donated to the park. 50% of the profit from the sale of other items in our Ele Store is donated to Elephant Nature Park.
